On behalf of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, I am proud to offer the Firearms Familiarization Course to citizens of Montgomery County. This course is offered free of charge to our citizens. The Firearms Familiarization Course is a five (5) hour course. It is held one Saturday a month at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Firing Range. Your safety is our primary concern; therefore, we ask that you do not bring children to this class. The first 3 1/2 hours are classroom instruction on firearm safety and firearm laws. The remaining 1 1/2 hours are on the Firing Range under the instruction of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Range Master. We recommend that you bring your own firearm to this class; however, if you do not own a firearm, you can use one of our firearms during the course.

• Class participants must obtain a Montgomery County pistol permit prior to taking the class. Applications are made in our Legal Services Division at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, 100 South Lawrence Street in Montgomery on the second floor.
• Please keep in mind that pistol permit applications can be processed within minutes.

Complete the Firearms Familiarization Course Interest Form and submit, or print and drop off at the Sheriff's Office.
